Dr. John Chicvak has over 30 years of experience in Dentistry. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from SUNY Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. He completed his General Practice Residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center as Chief Resident and has remained part of the North Shore/LIJ Dental Team as an Attending at Northwell Health Department of Dental Medicine.   

Clinical Technique He is a unique General Dentist that performs dental health care from pediatrics to geriatrics, restorative dentistry, endodontics, implantology, oral surgery, periodontics, sedation dentistry and orthodontics through Invisalign. Dr. Chicvak is 'DOCS' certified with the Dental Organization for Conscious Sedation for Sedation Dentistry to treat high-fear patients using Oral Conscious Sedation.

Sleep Apnea Dr. Chicvak treats sleep apnea with custom oral sleep appliance therapy in addition to all aspects of general and cosmetic dentistry.

Philanthropy Dr. Chicvak is committed to giving back to his community. He donates one day per month to care for the Developmentally Disabled in the Operating Room of North Shore University Hospital. For over 10 years he provided in-home/in-facility dental care for patients unable to leave their residence. As a member of the Glen Falls Medical Mission he traveled three consecutive years to Guatemala to provide dental care for the indigent population. He worked dental forensics for several disaster recovery missions on Long Island as a member of the Suffolk County Dental Forensic Society and served the New York City Chief Medical Examiner’s office for the disaster recovery efforts following September 11, 2001 at the World Trade Center and American Airlines Flight 587 for which he earned a distinguished service award from members of US Congress.

Continuing Education Dr. Chicvak is a graduate of the Dawson Academy for Advanced Dental Study having over 2000 hours of continuing education credits including 'DOCS' certification for dentistry using Oral Conscious Sedation has his Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine.

Awards Dr. Chicvak has been honored with numerous awards including Master of the Academy of General Dentistry, Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists, Diplomate of the American Board of Dental Sleep Medicine, as well as multiple Distinguished Service Awards from LIJ Medical Center and Northwell Health. He has been honored as one of America's Top Dentists for Consumer Research Council of America consistently since 2007 and has been ranked by his peers as one of New York's Top Dentists consistently since 2012.
